Tesco’s Marketplace Switch to Mirakl: What It Means for Sellers
Just over a year after Tesco’s much-anticipated marketplace relaunch, the UK’s biggest grocer has announced another big move, it’s replatforming to Mirakl.
For sellers, this is significant. Mirakl is one of the most established and widely used marketplace platforms in Europe, powering sites like B&Q, Debenhams, and Douglas. And with many brands already selling across other Mirakl platforms it means a unified, easier integration, removing potential barriers to launch. We know from our own experience some of the challenges sellers have faced with the Marketplacer platform. In fact, we’ve been wondering why Tesco didn’t select Mirakl in the first place.
Of course, not everyone will be celebrating. Sellers who invested time and resources into integrating with Tesco’s original Marketplacer platform will now need to rebuild their connections to stay active. It’s a hassle, but one that comes with a silver lining. Mirakl’s ecosystem opens up far greater compatibility with existing seller tools, analytics platforms, and fulfilment partners, making ongoing operations easier and more scalable.
For Tesco, replatforming so soon will come at huge expense, and signals their serious intent to compete at scale in UK marketplaces, something that benefits sellers as much as shoppers. A Mirakl-based Tesco Marketplace could finally deliver what we know is possible from the scale of reach that Tesco provides.
