The entire Tambo business is built around Compass, our intelligent business insight platform. Compass unifies industry data sources to help us create unique insight for our clients. We are looking a data engineer who will own data pipelines to access, cleanse our data sources and help translating ML concepts into production projects. Tambo is looking for strong data scientists and data engineers at level II or III (Mid to Senior) stage of their career. To help us enhance and further develop the compass platform, access new data sources and create new insight based on the existing ones.
The successful candidate will:
Engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders on project status and challenges.
Deliver the Data Engineering component of key client projects.
Own and support the development of new data pipelines, dana visualizations and ML models.
Access data from internal and external data sources via API’s, databases and external websites.
Thrive to help the team improve their processes as part of retrospective and stand-up meetings.
Advise stakeholders of opportunities, technical challenges and estimates.
Help stakeholders with specifications, documentation and escalated support questions.
Contribute to peer review processes.
Pair with peers and mentor junior developers.
Continuously develop their own skills and knowledge as part of projects and our
Learning and Development Time. Education and Experience required
The ideal candidate will:
A minimum BSc degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related quantitative degree or similar professional experience.
Have several years’ experience in a data focused software engineering role.
Preferably have some experience working with retail, marketing, or e-commerce data.
Have experience working with large datasets, data warehouse solutions and BI tools.
Be based in the UK or EU and be willing to occasionally travel to attend networking and team building events in our London offices.
Understand the software development life cycle and agile processes.
Have good communication skills and can express technical challenges in lay-man’s terms.
Technical Skills Desired
A successful candidates should be able to cover a good cross section of the
Excellent knowledge of Python for data manipulation, data pipeline design.
Knowledge of AWS especially Lambda, Redshift, RDS, Glue.
Good knowledge of code and model maintenance tools such as Git, MLflow
Knowledge of SQL and understanding of the challenges of designing for Data Warehouses and Databases.
Experience working with libraries designed for high scalability such as Spark
Experience creating data visualizations using BI Platforms or visualization frameworks.
Understand the foundations of statistical models and ML models.
Remote working with occasional travel to London
